SEEKING THIRD GRADE TEACHER

Immediate Opening - January 2008

A wonderful Third Grade class is waiting for the right teacher to join them in January '08 and beyond.  Join this wonderful class of 14 children and a dynamic faculty in the growing Tampa Bay area of sunny Florida.

SUNCOAST WALDORF SCHOOL IS SEEKING candidates who are trained Waldorf teachers.  It is important to have positive references, we desire colleagues who work well with others, are flexible, and take initiative and understand the challenges of a growing school. Qualified applicants will have an undergraduate degree, Waldorf teacher training or similar experience and be called to join this delightful group of 14 children, most of whom have been together since Kindergarten.

WE OFFER a salary commensurate with experience, medical benefits or an insurance stipend, time off for professional development, mentoring, and relocation assistance and tuition remission.

THE SCHOOL OPENED in 1998 with a kindergarten and now offers pre-kindergarten through 8th Grade. We offer German, Spanish, Games and Handwork beginning in the 1st Grade, and violin beginning in the 4th. We enjoy sunlit classrooms, wonderful play yards, spreading oaks, and a friendly "talking porch.” Our parent body is supportive and involved working enthusiastically with the Board of Trustees for fundraising, festivals, development and outreach.

SWS is located in on its own wooded campus of nearly 2 acres in Palm Harbor, Florida, part of the greater Tampa Bay area.  It is surrounded by beaches, bays, wetlands, spring fed rivers, and lakes. The Tampa Bay area includes the metropolitan cities of Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater offering art galleries, performing arts centers, theater, museums and many wonderful parks.

ANTHROPOSOHY is the foundation of the school and Waldorf education is the principal expression of Anthroposophy in this area. There are a number of study groups in the area and an Anthroposophical Branch was formed in 1999.  SWS is now offering a Foundation Studies Program partnered by Center for Anthroposophy.

School of the Suncoast does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion or ethnic background in the admission of students or the hiring of personnel.
