Mission Statement
Suncoast Waldorf School provides a
comprehensive and balanced academic, artistic, and practical education for
students in grades Pre-K through 8, with an outstanding curriculum based
upon Waldorf traditions. We are a community of teachers, staff, parents,
and friends who honor childhood, and value each stage of human
development. Our aim is to provide young people with the capacity for
freedom of thought, empathy, and initiative, so they will be able to make
meaningful contributions to society and the world.
Vision Statement
The vision of
Suncoast Waldorf School is to send out into the world young people who are
free-thinking, moral beings able to direct their lives with purpose. With
an unerring sense of commitment we will:

interdisciplinary educational program which balances and integrates the
humanities, sciences, and languages with visual, dramatic and musical
arts, as well as applied kinesthetic arts and sports.
- Uphold financial stability,
administrative responsibility, and responsiveness to the school
community’s needs.

committed to professional excellence and provide for their continued
professional development.
- Demonstrate a measurable level
of excellence in student achievement.

School of the Suncoast is profoundly dedicated to bringing children and families in the Tampa Bay area the highest quality classical education available today. Its pure Waldorf curriculum promotes creativity, critical thinking, social responsibility, and a lifelong love of learning.
Since opening its doors in 1998, enrollment has continued to grow. School of the Suncoast currently offers pre-K through
7th grade, on its new campus in beautiful Palm Harbor, located in northern Pinellas County. The tree-shaded grounds provide safe and ample space for exploration and creative play, while expertly lazured classrooms encourage a sense of beauty in harmony with the natural world.
Based on the
philosophy and pedagogical principles of Rudolf Steiner, the Waldorf education provides a comprehensive education in response to the needs of the child at each stage of development. This guiding principle assists in the unfolding of each child’s physical, emotional, and intellectual capabilities.
School of the Suncoast teachers are Waldorf-trained, and provide a creative, supportive learning environment, with a strong commitment to excellence in all basic academic skills. They present the classics, foreign languages, history, geography, mathematics, science - the subjects today's child needs as a foundation for tomorrow's complex and challenging world. But children also learn to knit, paint, sew, sculpt, play musical instruments, build, and develop other practical skills which helps to create a self sufficient, well rounded individual, able to confidently fulfill his or her own destinies and make positive contributions to our society and the world.
